Middleton is a perfect 10-0 against Madison West since May of 2021 and they'll have a chance to extend that dominance on Friday. The Cardinals will square off against the Regents at 5:00 p.m. The teams are on pretty different trajectories at the moment (Middleton has 14 straight wins, Madison West has six straight losses), but none of that matters once you're on the field.
It was a proper cat-fight when Middleton duked it out with Janesville Craig on Thursday. The Cardinals put the hurt on the Cougars with a sharp 13-3 victory. The Cardinals might be getting used to big wins seeing as the team has won nine matchups by eight runs or more this season.

Megan Button made a big impact while hitting and pitching. On the mound, she didn't allow a single earned run and allowed only one hit over four innings pitched. She has been nothing but reliable: she hasn't given up more than two walks in 14 consecutive appearances. She was also big at the plate, going 2-for-4 with four runs, four RBI, and one stolen base. Those four runs gave her a new career-high.
In other batting news, Lily Kulow was incredible, going 3-for-4 with four RBI, two doubles, and one run. Those two doubles gave her a new career-high. The team also got some help courtesy of Danica Nolte, who went 2-for-4 with two RBI and one run.
Middleton kept the outfield on their toes and finished the game with 14 hits. That strong performance was nothing new for the team: they've now got at least eight hits in five consecutive games.
Meanwhile, Madison West fell victim to Sun Prairie East and their airtight pitching crew on Tuesday. They took a 3-0 hit to the loss column at the hands of the Cardinals.
Middleton pushed their record up to 16-1 with the win, which was their seventh straight at home. Those home victories came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 9.1 runs over those games. As for Madison West, their defeat dropped their record down to 1-12.
Madison West's pitching crew has a crucial task ahead of them: Middleton has hit smart this season, having averaged an OBP of .447. It's a different story for Madison West, though, as they've only averaged .240. Will they be able to contain Middleton's hitters?
Middleton was able to grind out a solid win over Madison West when the teams last played back in April, winning 7-4. The rematch might be a little tougher for the Cardinals since the team won't have the home-field advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
