Football Recap: Brandon Smith and Dash Varner Secure Win for Marine Military Academy

While Marine Military Academy's win against Non Varsity Opponent wasn't quite the blowout it was the last time the pair played, they still came out on top. The Leathernecks sure made it a nail-biter, but they managed to escape with a 37-34 victory over Non Varsity Opponent on Friday. The Leathernecks haven't had any issues with Non Varsity Opponent recently, as the game was their eighth consecutive win against them.

A big part of Marine Military Academy's victory came down to the chemistry between Dash Varner and his top target Brandon Smith. Varner threw for 222 yards and five TDs while Smith picked up 161 receiving yards and three touchdowns. Those five passing touchdowns gave Varner a new career-high.

Marine Military Academy's defensive line made their presence known, laying out the QB seven times. The heavy lifting was done by Colton Clark and Clayton Bludah, who racked up five sacks between them. Clark is also crushing it when it comes to total tackles: he's made at least five every time he's taken the field this season.
