Recap: Lockney Longhorns vs. Smyer Bobcats

The Lockney Longhorns had to endure a four-game losing streak, but that streak is no more. They strolled past Smyer with points to spare on Tuesday, taking the game 70-52. That result was just more of the same for these two, as Lockney also won the last time the pair played back in December of 2023.

Dyllan Thiebaud was his usual excellent self, going 6 for 10 from beyond the arc en route to 24 points and 2 assists. As a matter of fact, that's the most points he has scored all season. Another player making a difference was Nathan Hernandez, who scored 14 points along with four steals.

Lockney's win bumped their record up to 7-12. As for Smyer, they have traveled a rocky road recently, as they've lost 11 of their last 13 games, which put a noticeable dent in their 6-19 record this season.

Both squads are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Lockney will take on Floydada at 7:30 p.m. on Friday. One thing working in Floydada's favor is that they have posted big point totals in their last six games. As for Smyer, they will be playing in front of their home fans against Hale Center at 7:30 p.m. on Friday. Hale Center will be looking to extend their current seven-game winning streak.
