Football Recap: Manchester Takes a Loss + How To Watch

Manchester's game on Thursday was all tied up 6-6 at the half, but sadly for them it didn't stay that way. They were just a hair shy of victory and fell 13-12 to the Platt Panthers. The result was an unpleasant reminder to the Red Hawks of the 33-12 loss they experienced in the pair's previous head-to-head fixture back in October of 2021.

When it comes to explaining why Manchester lost, don't look at Justice Powell. Despite the final result, he rushed for 66 yards and one score, and also threw for 172 yards and one touchdown.

Multiple players turned in solid performances to lead Platt to victory, but perhaps none more so than Austen Standish, who rushed for 45 yards and one TD, and also threw for 122 yards and one touchdown while completing 80% of his passes. What's more, Standish racked up 124.9 passer rating, the most he's had since back in October of 2024. 83 of Standish's passing yards were hauled in by Jesus Vasquez, who also brought in a receiving touchdown.

Manchester's record now sits at 0-2. As for Platt, the win got them back to even at 1-1.

Both squads will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Manchester will face off against Trumbull at 7:00 p.m. on the 26th. As for Platt, they will challenge Wethersfield at 7:00 p.m. on the 26th.
