Basketball Game Preview: Steward Spartans vs. Trinity Episcopal Titans

Steward and Trinity Episcopal are an even 4-4 against one another since December of 2014, but not for long. Having just played yesterday, the Steward Spartans will head out on the road to face off against the Trinity Episcopal Titans at 7:00 p.m. on Wednesday. Trinity Episcopal took a loss in their last contest and will be looking to turn the tables on Steward, who comes in off a win.

If Steward beats Trinity Episcopal with 80 points on Wednesday, it's going to be the team's new lucky number: they've won their past two matchups with that exact score. Steward breezed by Walsingham Academy to the tune of 80-41 on Tuesday. The Spartans have made a habit of sweeping their opponents off the court, having now won seven games by 26 points or more this season.

Meanwhile, Trinity Episcopal faced St. Anne's-Belfield in a battle between two of the state's top teams on Tuesday. Trinity Episcopal came up short against St. Anne's-Belfield, falling 89-66. The Titans have been going strong on the season, but this is now their second loss in a row.

Steward's win was their 12th straight at home dating back to last season, which pushed their record up to 15-6. The wins came thanks to their offensive performance across that stretch, as they averaged 71.3 points per game. As for Trinity Episcopal, their defeat dropped their record down to 13-6.

Steward beat Trinity Episcopal 68-60 when the teams last played back in January of 2024. The rematch might be a little tougher for Steward since the squad won't have the home-court advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
