Basketball Recap: Red Cloud's Luck Takes a Turn for the Worse on Friday

Red Cloud lost against Shelton back in December of 2023 and unfortunately they wound up with the same result on Friday. The Red Cloud Warriors fell 59-52 to the Shelton Bulldogs. The Warriors' defeat signaled the end of their three-game winning streak.

Despite the loss, Red Cloud still got an impressive performance from Gage Ely, who dropped a double-double on 34 points and ten rebounds. The dominant performance gave Ely a new career-high in points. Conner Rust was another key player, going 5 of 8 on his way to 11 points.

Even though they lost, Red Cloud smashed the offensive glass and finished the game with 16 offensive boards. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Shelton only pulled down four offensive rebounds.

Jaxson Ohlman was his usual excellent self, going 9 of 14 on his way to 26 points and five rebounds for Shelton. The match was Ohlman's fifth in a row with at least ten points. The team also got some help courtesy of Dylan Kenton, who posted 14 points along with seven assists and five boards.

Red Cloud's loss dropped their record down to 3-2. As for Shelton, their win bumped their record up to 5-2.

Red Cloud didn't take long to hit the court again: they've already played their next contest, a 61-33 defeat against Alma on the 21st. As for Shelton, they will get to enjoy the win for a while: their next game is against Ravenna at 6:15 p.m. on January 2, 2025.
