Basketball Game Preview: Haldane Blue Devils vs. Lakeland Hornets

The Haldane Blue Devils will challenge the Lakeland Hornets at 1:00 p.m. on Saturday. Haldane will be strutting in after a victory while Lakeland will be coming in after a loss.

Haldane is headed in fresh off scoring the most points they have all season. They blew past Keio Academy of N.Y., posting a 50-18 win. The victory was some much needed relief for the Blue Devils as it spelled an end to their seven-game losing streak.

Meanwhile, Lakeland lost 54-30 to Walter Panas on Saturday. While losing is never fun, the Hornets can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' New York basketball rankings (they are ranked 376th, while the Panthers are ranked 15th).

Haldane's win bumped their record up to 4-11. As for Lakeland, this is the second loss in a row for them and nudges their season record down to 2-7.

Haldane suffered a grim 63-43 defeat to Lakeland when the teams last played back in January of 2023. Can Haldane avenge their defeat or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
