Softball Game Preview: Gulfport Admirals vs. D'Iberville Warriors

The Gulfport Admirals will head out to take on the D'Iberville Warriors at 6:30 p.m. on Thursday. Given that the two teams suffered a loss in their last games, they both have a little extra motivation heading into this match.

On Tuesday, Gulfport came up short against Ocean Springs and fell 8-5. The defeat continues a trend for the Admirals in their meetings with the Greyhounds: they've now lost four in a row.

Meanwhile, D'Iberville fell victim to Harrison Central and their airtight pitching crew on Tuesday. They fell just short of the Red Rebels by a score of 1-0. The contest marked the first time this year in which the Warriors were not able to get on the board.

The result came thanks to Emma Franklin's shutout, as she gave up just two hits and racked up 13 Ks. She has been nothing but reliable on the mound: she hasn't tossed less than five strikeouts in six consecutive appearances.

D'Iberville has traveled a rocky road recently, having lost five of their last six games. That's put a noticeable dent in their 5-6 record this season. Gulfport's loss dropped their record down to 5-6.
