Volleyball Game Preview: Coronado Cougars vs. Shadow Ridge Mustangs

The Coronado Cougars will venture away from home to challenge the Shadow Ridge Mustangs at 6:00 p.m. on Monday. Both come into the contest bolstered by wins in their previous matches.

Coronado is coming in fresh off a high-stakes matchup with another one of Nevada's top teams: Basic, who was ranked fifth at the time (Coronado was ranked sixth). The Cougars came out on top against the Wolves by a score of 3-1 on Friday. The Cougars haven't had any issues with the Wolves recently, as the game was their third consecutive victory against them.

Coronado had a slow start but a hot finish: after dropping the first set, they turned around to win the next three. The match finished with set scores of 11-25, 25-20, 25-20, 28-26.

Palo Verde typically has all the answers at home, but on Thursday Shadow Ridge proved too difficult a challenge. They put the hurt on the Panthers with a sharp 3-0 win.

While Shadow Ridge might've won, it sure wasn't easy: Palo Verde scored at least 18 points in every set they played. Once all was said and done, the final score wound up at 25-23, 25-23, 25-18.

Coronado's victory bumped their record up to 11-12. As for Shadow Ridge, their win bumped their record up to 16-6.

Coronado suffered a grim 3-0 defeat to Shadow Ridge in their previous matchup back in March. Can the Cougars avenge their defeat or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
