Volleyball Recap: Southeast Whitfield County Comes Up Short

Southeast Whitfield County was not able to break out of their rough patch on Thursday as the team picked up their fifth straight loss. They fell 2-0 to the Coahulla Creek Colts. The result was an unpleasant reminder to the Raiders of the 2-1 defeat they experienced in the pair's previous head-to-head fixture back in October of 2024.

Southeast Whitfield County was was forced to take the loss, but they sure made Coahulla Creek work for it, especially in the first set. The final score came out to 27-25, 25-10.

Briana Fraire Hernandez paced Southeast Whitfield County's offense, picking up seven kills. Fraire Hernandez got some help from Brielle Caldwell and her nine assists. Fraire Hernandez was also solid from the service line: she led the team with three aces.

Multiple players turned in solid performances to lead Coahulla Creek to victory, but perhaps none more so than Mallory Priest, who had four digs and four aces. That's the most aces Priest has posted over her last ten matchups.

Southeast Whitfield County's loss dropped their record down to 5-10. As for Coahulla Creek, the victory got them back to even at 8-8.

Coming up, Southeast Whitfield County is taking a road trip to square off against Woodland at 5:00 p.m. on Thursday. As for Coahulla Creek, they will be taking part in a tournament against Allatoona at 11:00 a.m. on September 6.
