Football Recap: St. Cloud Picks Up Third Consecutive Victory

Fans were treated to a battle of the Bulldogs on Thursday. St. Cloud walked away with a 14-7 win over Melbourne. The victory was familiar territory for St. Cloud, who have now won three matchups in a row.

St. Cloud didn't go easy on the quarterback and picked off two passes before the game was over. The picks came courtesy of Deishalee Pena and Chavoria Bell. Pena has been hot recently, having also posted at least one sack the last three times she's played.

St. Cloud pushed their record up to 8-3 with the win, which was their fourth straight on the road dating back to last season. Those road victories came thanks in part to their defensive effort, having only surrendered 3.5 points on average over those games. As for Melbourne, they have traveled a rocky road recently, having lost three of their last four games. That's put a noticeable dent in their 3-5 record this season.

St. Cloud will take on Innovation at 7:00 p.m. on Monday. The Bulldogs are facing the Bulls at the right time seeing as the Bulls are stuck on a three-game losing streak. As for Melbourne, they will face off against Vero Beach at 6:00 p.m. on Tuesday. The two teams have allowed few points on average (the Bulldogs 11.6, the Indians 9.6) so any points scored will be well earned.
