While Paint Valley's win against Washington wasn't quite the blowout it was the last time the pair played, they still came out on top. Paint Valley narrowly escaped with a victory as the squad sidled past Washington 4-2. That's the second time they've managed to beat them this season, as they also won 10-0 last Wednesday.
Kasarah Cantrell made a big impact while hitting and pitching. She looked comfortable on the mound, not allowing a single earned run and allowed only two hits while striking out 11 over seven innings pitched. Furthermore, she didn't allow a single earned run, the first time she has blanked an opponent since back in April of 2024. She was also solid in the batter's box, scoring a run and stealing a base while going 1-for-3.
Cantrell wasn't the only one making solid contact as five players wound up with at least one hit. One of them was Sophia Stauffer, who scored a run and stole two bases while going 1-for-3. Another was Kyla Littler, who scored a run and stole a base while going 1-for-3.
Paint Valley's win bumped their record up to 2-0. As for Washington, they are on a 15-game losing streak (dating back to last season) that has dropped them down to 0-4.
Both teams will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. A feisty cat fight will be fought as Paint Valley Bearcats take on Whiteoak Wildcats at 5:15 p.m. on Monday. Paint Valley is facing Whiteoak at the right time seeing as Whiteoak is stuck on a three-game losing streak. As for Washington, they are taking a road trip to take on Hillsboro at 5:00 p.m. on Monday. Hillsboro's pitching crew has only allowed 1.5 runs per game this season, so Washington's hitters will have their work cut out for them.
