Preview: Salem Hills Skyhawks vs. Green Canyon Wolves
Salem Hills has enjoyed a two-game homestand but will soon have to dust off their road jerseys. They will face off against The Green Canyon Wolves at 6:00 p.m. on Friday. The matchup should be an exciting one, as these teams are ranked near one another in Utah (Salem Hills is ranked 44th, while Green Canyon is ranked 33rd).
Salem Hills had a rough season last year, but they look ready to turn that poor record around this year. They really took it to Uintah for the full four quarters, racking up a 44-7 win at home. The matchup was pretty much decided by the half, when the score had already reached 30-7.
Salem Hills relied on the efforts of Jedi Nelson, who threw for 120 yards and four touchdowns, and Roper Kay, who rushed for 253 yards and a touchdown while picking up 12.7 yards per carry. Kay really tore up the turf during one magnificent 77-yard run. Kort Stewart was in the mix too, providing Salem Hills with two touchdowns.
Meanwhile, a well-balanced attack led Green Canyon over Varsity Opponent in every quarter on their way to victory on October 11th. Given that consistent dominance, it should come as no surprise that Green Canyon blew Varsity Opponent out of the water with a 35-0 final score. The win made it back-to-back wins for Green Canyon.
Salem Hills has been performing incredibly well recently as they've won six of their last seven games, which provided a nice bump to their 8-3 record this season. As for Green Canyon, their win bumped their record up to 7-3.
