            Football Recap: Southwest EC Eagles vs. Calexico Bulldogs        
        
		
        
        
            Southwest EC had lost nine straight on the road dating back to last season, but  on Monday they dropped down to 3-5 to make it ten. They fell  19-14 to the Calexico Bulldogs. While losing is never fun, the Eagles can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage  in MaxPreps' California football rankings (they are ranked 381st, while the Bulldogs are ranked 64th).
As for Calexico, the  victory keeps them at an undefeated 6-0. The  wins came thanks in part to their defensive effort, having only surrendered 8.7 points on average this season.
 Calexico got their  victory on the backs of several key players, but it was  Giovanna Ortiz out in front who threw for 205 yards and three  TDs. Ortiz is  on a roll when it comes to  passing touchdowns, as she's  now  passed for three or more in each of the last three games she's  played. The team also got some help courtesy of  Arellana Garcia, who picked up 68 receiving yards and a pair of  scores.
 Southwest EC didn't take long to hit the field again: they've already played their next  contest,  a  12-7  defeat against Holtville on the 10th. As for Calexico, they also wasted no time getting back out on the field and have already played their next  matchup,  a  41-0  loss against Imperial on the 10th.
