Wheelersburg is 9-1 against Waverly since May of 2019 and they'll have a chance to extend that dominance on Monday. The Pirates will look to defend their home field against the Tigers at 5:00 p.m. The two teams have allowed few runs on average (Wheelersburg 2.4, Waverly 2.7) so any runs scored will be well earned.
Wheelersburg's pitching crew heads into the game hoping to repeat the dominance they displayed on Saturday. They blew past Chillicothe 9-0. The Pirates might be getting used to big wins seeing as the team has won eight contests by six runs or more this season.

Brady Doss and Ean Conn made a splash while hitting and pitching. Throwing, Doss didn't allow a single earned run and allowed only one hit over four innings pitched. Meanwhile, Conn pitched three innings while giving up no earned runs or hits. He has been nothing but reliable on the mound: he hasn't given up more than one earned run in seven consecutive appearances. At bat, Doss went 3-for-5 with three runs, two doubles, and one stolen base, while Conn got on base in three of his four plate appearances with one run and one RBI. Those two doubles gave Doss a new career-high.
In other batting news, the team relied heavily on Jack Picklesimer, who went 2-for-3 with two runs, two RBI, and one double. Another player making a difference was Brody Wilburn, who went 1-for-4 with one run and one RBI.
Meanwhile, Waverly was not able to break out of their rough patch on Saturday as the team picked up their third straight defeat. They might be feeling deja-vu: they lost 2-1 to Northwest, which was the same score (and result) they got the week prior.
Wheelersburg's win was their fifth straight on the road, which pushed their record up to 13-6. The road victories came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 1.0 run on average over those games. As for Waverly, they now have a losing record of 9-10.
Wheelersburg was able to grind out a solid win over Waverly when the teams last played last Wednesday, winning 4-1. Do the Pirates have another victory up their sleeve, or will the Tigers turn the tables on them? We'll have the answer soon enough.
