Softball Recap: Greenon Wins Going Away Against Catholic Central

Greenon had to skate by with only a two-run margin when they last took the field, which might have inspired the 17-run drubbing they dealt Catholic Central on Monday. The Knights put the hurt on the Irish with a sharp 19-2 victory. The Knights haven't had any issues with the Irish recently, as the game was their fourth consecutive win against them.

Kylie Birt made a splash while hitting and pitching. She tossed four innings while giving up just one earned (and one unearned) run off one hit. Birt was also big at the plate, scoring three runs and stealing three bases while going 2-for-3. Birt is crushing it when it comes to stolen bases: she's snagged at least one every time she's taken the field this season.

In other batting news, Peyton Walker was a standout: she scored three runs and stole three bases while getting on base in all four of her plate appearances. That's the most runs she has posted since back in April of 2024. The team also got some help courtesy of Sophie Blessing, who scored three runs and stole five bases while going 1-for-2.

Greenon's victory was their third straight at home, which pushed their record up to 3-0. Those home wins came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they've averaged 14.0 runs this season. As for Catholic Central, they are on a 15-game losing streak (dating back to last season) that has dropped them down to 0-2.

Greenon will have a chance to go back-to-back against the Irish: the pair's next game is a rematch scheduled at 5:00 p.m. on Tuesday.
