Basketball Recap: Edgewood Piles Up the Points Against West Shore

Edgewood waltzed into their matchup on Wednesday with four straight wins... but they left with five. They blew past the West Shore Wildcats 65-29. With that victory, the Red Wolves brought their scoring average up to 51.6 points per game.

Multiple players turned in solid performances to lead Edgewood to victory, but perhaps none more so than Janae Mcfall, who posted 18 points and seven steals. Mcfall's evening made it four games in a row in which she has scored at least ten points. The team also got some help courtesy of Ada Howarter, who went 7 of 10 on her way to 17 points and four steals.

When it comes to explaining why West Shore lost, don't look at Emily Marshall. Despite the final result, she almost dropped a double-double on ten points and nine boards. Marshall is also on a roll when it comes to steals, as she's now grabbed two or more in the last four games she's played. Another player making a difference was Jalaya King, who put up three points in addition to five rebounds and three steals.

Edgewood's win was their fifth straight on the road dating back to last season, which pushed their record up to 7-2. The wins came thanks to their defensive effort, having only surrendered 25.4 points per game. As for West Shore, they are on a three-game losing streak that has dropped them down to 2-4.

Edgewood will square off against Titusville at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. Edgewood's defense has only allowed 26.8 points per game this season, so Titusville's offense will have their work cut out for them. As for West Shore, they will challenge Satellite at 6:00 p.m. on Friday.
