The American Fork Cavemen will challenge the Davis Darts at 3:30 p.m. on Friday. American Fork is strutting in with some hitting muscle as they've averaged 8.7 runs per game this season.
American Fork is coming in fresh off a high-stakes matchup with another one of Utah's top teams: Fremont, who was ranked 11th at the time (American Fork was ranked third). American Fork came out on top against Fremont by a score of 6-3 on Tuesday. Winning may never get old, but the Cavemen sure are getting used to it with their third in a row.
Bode Gaggero made a splash while hitting and pitching. On the mound, he tossed two innings while giving up no earned runs off one hit. That's the fewest hits he has allowed since back in April of 2024. He was also big at the plate, scoring two runs while going 1-for-3. He also put up a double, which was his first of the season.
In other pitching news, Jamon Yates looked comfortable as he pitched two innings while giving up no earned runs off three hits.
Back at the plate, the team relied heavily on Cooper Jones, who went 3-for-4 with one home run, three RBI, and two runs. That's the most RBI he has posted since back in May of 2024.
Meanwhile, Davis suffered their closest defeat since May 20, 2024 on Wednesday. They fell just short of Maple Mountain by a score of 7-5.
Jaxon Marble was cooking despite his team's loss, getting on base in three of his four plate appearances with one home run. The team also got some help courtesy of Brody Mcguire, who went 3-for-4 with two RBI.
American Fork pushed their record up to 6-1 with the victory, which was their 11th straight at home dating back to last season. The wins came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 2.5 runs on average over those games. As for Davis, their loss dropped their record down to 5-3.
Davis' pitching crew has a crucial task ahead of them: American Fork has been making plenty of contact this season, having averaged 9.1 hits per game. It's a different story for Davis, though, as they've been averaging 8.9 hits. Given American Fork's sizable advantage in that area, Davis will need to find a way to close that gap.
