Softball Recap: Rangeview Comes Up Short

Rangeview had lost six straight at home, but on Thursday they dropped down to 4-18-1 to make it seven. They lost 25-13 to the Vista PEAK Prep Bison. The Raiders were not able to repeat the success they had when they faced the Bison earlier this season, when they won 12-11.

Diana Esquivel made the most of her time in the batter's box despite the final result and got on base in all four of her plate appearances with three RBI, two runs, and one stolen base. Devyn Davenport was another key player, going 2-for-4 with two runs, one stolen base, and one double.

As for Vista PEAK Prep, their victory ended a five-game drought on the road and puts them at 7-14. Their hitters stepped up their game for this one, as that was the most runs they've scored all season.

On Vista PEAK Prep's side, Amara Herrera made a splash no matter where she played. She pitched two innings while giving up no earned runs off one hit. Herrera has been nothing but reliable on the mound: she hasn't given up more than two walks in seven consecutive appearances. She was even better at the plate, going 4-for-6 with three runs, three RBI, and one double.

In other batting news, Jaya Gray was a standout: she went 5-for-6 with six runs, two triples, and two stolen bases. Those six runs gave her a new career-high. Another player making a difference was Kaydence Maes, who went 4-for-5 with five RBI, three runs, and one stolen base.

As of now, neither Rangeview nor Vista PEAK Prep have any future games scheduled.
