Baseball Game Preview: York Dukes vs. Seward Bluejays

The York Dukes will square off against the Seward Bluejays at 4:30 p.m. on Thursday. York is strutting in with some hitting muscle as they've averaged 6.2 runs per game this season.

York will roll into the match after a wild two-game stretch: they only put up two runs on Friday, then bounced right back against Twin River on Monday. The Dukes put the hurt on the Titans with a sharp 15-5 victory. The Dukes might be getting used to big wins seeing as the team has won five contests by eight runs or more this season.

Eli Nething made a big impact while hitting and pitching. On the mound, he tossed 2.1 innings while giving up no earned runs off two hits. Nething was also solid in the batter's box, scoring a run while going 2-for-4. The dominant performance also gave him a new career-high in RBI (three).

In other batting news, Carsen Pieper was a standout: he scored four runs and stole a base while getting on base in four of his five plate appearances. Those four runs gave him a new career-high. Another player making a difference was Ashtyn Demuth, who scored a run and stole a base while getting on base in three of his five plate appearances.

York always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .619. That's the best OBP they've posted all season.

Meanwhile, Seward came tearing into Tuesday's game with three straight wins (a stretch where they outscored their opponents by an average of 6.7 runs), and they left with even more momentum. They came within a single run of losing the streak, but they secured a 7-6 W against the Patriots.

Brycen Burt and Kyle Riley did most of the damage at the plate: Burt scored a run while going 2-for-4, while Riley scored a run while going 2-for-4.

York's win ended a three-game drought on the road and puts them at 7-5. As for Seward, their victory bumped their record up to 8-5.
