Basketball Recap: Caston Piles Up the Points Against Argos

Caston won against Lakeland Christian Academy last Tuesday with 74 points and they decided to stick to that point total again on Thursday. The Comets breezed past the Argos Dragons to the tune of 74-31. The Comets have beaten the Dragons the last three times they've met, but they better watch out: this was the closest the Dragons has come to flipping the script.

Leading Caston to victory were Logan Mollenkopf and Lane Hook. Mollenkopf went 7-for-9 on his way to 22 points and six rebounds, while Hook shot 50% from the field to rack up 14 points and eight boards. Mollenkopf's big performance that evening made it five games in a row in which he has scored at least 16 points. Brodie Howard was another key player, putting up eight points.

Caston smashed the offensive glass and finished the game with 16 offensive boards. That's the most offensive rebounds they've posted since back in November of 2024.

Despite the loss, Argos still got an impressive performance from Mekhi Austin, who shot 42% from the field en route to 18 points.

Caston's record now sits at 2-0. As for Argos, they are on a seven-game losing streak (dating back to last season) that has dropped them down to 0-2.

Looking ahead, Caston will challenge Carroll at 7:30 p.m. on the 12th. As for Argos, they have already played their next game, an 80-21 loss against West Central on the 5th.
