Baseball Recap: Lewis-Palmer Takes Down Ranked Cheyenne Mountain

Lewis-Palmer faced Cheyenne Mountain in a battle between two of the state's top teams on Thursday. The Rangers were the clear victors by a 16-5 margin over the Red-Tailed Hawks. The Rangers might be getting used to big wins seeing as the team has won four contests by ten runs or more this season.

Alvin Jarrell made a big impact while hitting and pitching. He pitched five innings while giving up just two earned runs off six hits. He has been nothing but reliable on the mound: he hasn't tossed less than five strikeouts in six consecutive appearances. He was even better at the plate, going 4-for-5 with one home run and seven RBI. Those four hits gave him a new career-high.

In other batting news, Charlie Lendt was incredible, firing off two home runs and three RBI while going 2-for-4. Those three RBI gave him a new career-high. Garrett Hennis was another key player, getting on base in three of his five plate appearances with two runs, two RBI, and one double.

Lewis-Palmer always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .561. That's the best OBP they've posted all season.

The win made it two in a row for Lewis-Palmer and bumps their season record up to 11-2. Those victories came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 16.0 runs over those games. As for Cheyenne Mountain, their loss ended a nine-game streak of wins at home dating back to last season and dropped them to 7-3-1.
