Basketball Game Preview: Lawrence Academy Warriors vs. Ridgecroft Rams

Lawrence Academy is 1-9 against Ridgecroft since February of 2021 but they'll have a chance to close the gap a little bit on Friday. The Lawrence Academy Warriors will be playing in front of their home fans against the Ridgecroft Rams at 7:30 p.m. Lawrence Academy knows how to get points on the board -- the team has finished with 55 points or more in their past ten matches -- so hopefully Ridgecroft likes a good challenge.

Last Wednesday, Lawrence Academy didn't have too much trouble with Pungo Christian Academy as they won 68-50.

Nike Wiggins was his usual excellent self, going 14 of 31 on his way to 32 points and five boards. That makes it four consecutive games in which he has scored at least a third of Lawrence Academy's points. Carter Hoggard was another key player, dropping a double-double on ten points and 12 rebounds.

Lawrence Academy smashed the offensive glass and finished the game with 17 offensive rebounds. That strong performance was nothing new for the team: they've now pulled down at least eight offensive boards in seven consecutive games.

Meanwhile, Ridgecroft came tearing into Thursday's contest with four straight wins (a stretch where they outscored their opponents by an average of 24.3 points) and they left with even more momentum. They came out on top against the Raiders by a score of 80-69.

Lawrence Academy pushed their record up to 9-8 with the victory, which was their fifth straight at home. They've dominated over that stretch too, winning by an average of 30.8 points. As for Ridgecroft, they have been performing well recently as they've won eight of their last ten matches, which provided a nice bump to their 13-4 record this season.
