Baseball Recap: Wayne Takes a Loss

Wayne made up a huge gap compared to their last game against Altamont, but they still couldn't quite topple them. The Badgers fell just short of the Longhorns by a score of 6-4 on Monday. Unfortunately, that's the second time they've come up short against the Longhorns this season, as they also lost their prior matchup 9-3 last Saturday.

Miles Hinkle made the most of his time in the batter's box despite the final result and got on base in all three of his plate appearances with one stolen base and one run. That stolen base was his first of the season. Blake Peterson was another key player, going 1-for-4 with one run, one double, and one RBI.

This is the second loss in a row for Wayne and nudges their season record down to 2-4. As for Altamont, they pushed their record up to 7-4 with the victory, which was their fourth straight on the road.

Both squads are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Wayne will square off against Panguitch at 3:00 p.m. on Wednesday. The Bobcats' pitching crew has only allowed 2.6 runs per game this season, so the Badgers' hitters will have their work cut out for them. As for Altamont, they will challenge Piute at 1:00 p.m. on Friday.
