Basketball Recap: Worth County Takes Loss Despite Strong Performances from Caleb New and Cole Ruby

Worth County lost against Maysville back in February of 2024, and unfortunately they wound up with the same result on Thursday. The Worth County Tigers lost 62-37 to the Maysville Wolverines. While losing is never fun, the Tigers can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Missouri basketball rankings (they are ranked 438th, while the Wolverines are ranked 168th).

Despite the defeat, Worth County had strong showings from Cole Ruby, who posted 16 points, and Caleb New, who scored eight points. The game was Ruby's third in a row with at least 16 points.

Worth County has traveled a rocky road recently having lost four of their last five contests. That's put a noticeable dent in their 9-12 record this season. The win (which was Maysville's fifth in a row) raised their record to 19-6.

Worth County does not have any more games scheduled as of now. As for Maysville, they didn't take long to hit the court again: they've already played their next match, a 51-46 loss against Winston on the 22nd.
