After each having a week off, the Peachtree Ridge Lions and the Newton Rams will shake off the cobwebs and hit the field against one another at 7:00 p.m. on the 14th. Peachtree Ridge will aim to continue their three-game streak of scoring more points each contest than the last.
Last Thursday, Peachtree Ridge humbled Berkmar with a 41-6 victory. The Lions might be getting used to big wins seeing as the team has won five games by 25 points or more this season.

Peachtree Ridge's win was the result of several impressive offensive performances. One of the most notable came from Rayshaun Parks, who threw for 144 yards and three TDs. Parks has been hot recently, having posted three or more passing touchdowns the last three times he's played. Sojourn Parker was in the mix as well, providing Peachtree Ridge with one score.
Peachtree Ridge didn't go easy on the quarterback and picked off three passes before the game was over. The team can thank three different players for their defensive prowess: Declan Delaporte, Jeremie McCall, and Parker, who each picked up one interception apiece. Peachtree Ridge received some extra help from Parker, whose fumble return for a touchdown made for one of the most unforgettable moments.
Meanwhile, Newton came tearing into Friday's matchup with three straight wins (a stretch where they outscored their opponents by an average of 42.3 points), and they left with even more momentum. They came within six points of losing the streak, but they secured a 27-21 W against the Comets.
Peachtree Ridge better keep an eye on Darius White. He was instrumental in Newton's win, rushing for 187 yards and three touchdowns while picking up 11.0 yards per carry. Those three rushing touchdowns gave White a new career-high. The team also got some help courtesy of Deron Benson, who threw for 169 yards on only 16 passes.
Newton didn't let much get past them through the air: they limited South Gwinnett to a completion percentage of just 42.9%. The Rams weren't nearly as limited: they posted one of 62.5%.
Peachtree Ridge's record is now 7-3. As for Newton, their record now sits at an identical 7-3.
Friday's contest might be decided on the ground. Peachtree Ridge has been excellent on the ground this season, having averaged 169.9 rushing yards per game. However, it's not like Newton struggles in that department as they've been averaging an even more impressive 275.8 rushing yards. There's a good chance Friday's game turns into a tough fight on the ground.
Peachtree Ridge ended up a good deal behind Newton when the teams last played back in September of 2017, losing 47-28. Can the Lions avenge their loss or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
