Football Game Preview: Lewis County Panthers vs. Scotts Hill Lions

The Lewis County Panthers will head out on the road to square off against the Scotts Hill Lions at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. The teams are on pretty different trajectories at the moment (Lewis County has six straight victories, Scotts Hill has ten straight defeats), but none of that matters once you're on the field.

Lewis County is headed into the contest after thoroughly thrashing Summertown: they outscored them in every quarter. Given that consistent dominance, it should come as no surprise that the Panthers blew the Eagles out of the water with a 51-0 final score. Given the Panthers' advantage in MaxPreps' Tennessee football rankings (they are ranked 96th, while the Eagles are ranked 213th) , the win on Friday wasn't entirely unexpected.

This one was won in the trenches and the lion's share of the credit has to go to Drew Ray and Knox Rainey. Ray gained 151 total yards and three touchdowns while Rainey rushed for 117 yards and a pair of touchdowns on only seven carries. Ray is also on a roll when it comes to rushing touchdowns, as he's now punched in two or more in each of the last five games he's played. Kolt Skelton was another key player, throwing for 178 yards and two TDs while completing 71.4% of his passes.

Meanwhile, it was a proper cat-fight when Scotts Hill duked it out with Mt. Pleasant on Friday. The Lions took a blow against the Tigers, falling 48-0.

Lewis County's win bumped their record up to 6-0. As for Scotts Hill, their loss dropped their record down to 0-6.

Everything came up roses for Lewis County against Scotts Hill in their previous meeting back in October of 2022, as the squad secured a 33-0 victory. Will the Panthers repeat their success, or do the Lions have a new game plan this time around? We'll find out soon enough.
