Basketball Recap: Sehome Turns Things Around After Road Loss

There's no place like home for Sehome, who bounced back after a loss on the road last Saturday. They enjoyed a cozy 69-54 win over the Marysville-Pilchuck Tomahawks on Tuesday. That's the second time they've managed to beat them this season, as they also won 63-46 back in December of 2024.

Despite the loss, Marysville-Pilchuck saw an underclassman step up: freshman Michael Rangel-smathers went 7-for-17 to rack up 31 points and four steals. That was a full 57.4% of Marysville-Pilchuck's points, marking the third time in a row he's posted more than a third of the team's points. Skylar Hayward was another key player, putting up six points.

Sehome's victory bumped their record up to 6-14. As for Marysville-Pilchuck, their defeat was their 11th straight on the road, which dropped their record down to 1-20.

Looking ahead, Sehome will head out to square off against Lynden at 7:00 p.m. on Thursday. Lynden will roll in looking for their 21st straight win, something Sehome surely won't give up without a fight. Marysville-Pilchuck does not have any more games scheduled as of now.
