Football Recap: Kameron Barber's Big Game Can't Quite Lead Centennial over Westwood

If Centennial was feeling good fresh off their 61-14 takedown of Bayside last Thursday, their most recent game may have dampened their spirits a bit. The Eagles fell 22-16 to the Westwood Panthers on Friday. The Eagles lost against the Panthers in their previous head to head back in September of 2024, too, but the margin this time around was much closer than the 38-8 score last time.

Centennial lost despite a true team effort on offense. The best among them was Kameron Barber, who picked up 148 receiving yards.

Multiple players turned in solid performances to lead Westwood to victory, but perhaps none more so than Joseph Weather Jr., who threw for 240 yards and a pair of TDs, and also rushed for 56 yards on only five carries. Jermaine Walker was Weather Jr.'s top target, picking up 142 receiving yards and one touchdown.

Centennial now has a losing record of 2-3. As for Westwood, the victory made it two in a row for them and bumps their season record up to 2-2.

Centennial didn't take long to hit the field again: they've already played their next matchup, a 28-8 win against Okeechobee on the 3rd. As for Westwood, they also wasted no time getting back out on the field and have already played their next game, a 21-20 defeat against King's Academy on the 29th.
