Recap: South View Tigers vs. Chapel Hill Tigers
The South View Tigers and the Chapel Hill Tigers squared off in some playoff action on Tuesday, but sadly the South View Tigers had to settle for second. They fell just short of the Tigers by a score of 55-53. While losing is never fun, South View can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' North Carolina basketball rankings (they are ranked 261st, while Chapel Hill is ranked 81st).
Despite the loss, South View still got an impressive performance from Antrell Gilmore, who scored 30 points along with three steals. As a matter of fact, that's the most points Gilmore has scored all season. The team also got some help courtesy of Chase Evans, who scored nine points.
David Mirikwe was his usual excellent self, scoring 21 points along with two steals for Chapel Hill. That makes it three consecutive games in which Mirikwe has scored at least a third of Chapel Hill's points. Alex Smollen was another key contributor, scoring four points along with 13 rebounds and three blocks.
South View's defeat was their third straight on the road, which dropped their record down to 15-12. As for Chapel Hill, the win (which was their sixth in a row) raised their record to 21-6.
South View does not have any more games scheduled as of now. As for Chapel Hill, they have the luxury of staying home another game and will welcome Panther Creek at 7:30 p.m. on March 1st. Panther Creek has been dominant on offense recently, as they've racked up an incredible 1,171 points over their last 16 matchups.
