Softball Recap: Snook Christian Academy's Losing Streak Is a Thing of the Past

Snook Christian Academy had to endure an eight-game losing streak, but that streak is no more. Their pitcher stepped up to hand the Escambia Academy Cougars a 13-0 shutout on Monday. The Eagles' offense finally found a way to get into gear: the high-octane performance was a 180-degree turn from their last five games.

The team relied heavily on Brookley Smith, who went 1-for-2 with one home run and two RBI. Those two RBI gave her a new career-high. Madelyn Tompkins was another key player, scoring two runs and stealing a base while getting on base in two of her three plate appearances.

Snook Christian Academy's victory was their eighth straight at home dating back to last season, which pushed their record up to 2-8. A key ingredient in that success has been their performance when it comes to strikeouts: they averaged an imposing nine strikeouts in those games compared to only two in the others. As for Escambia Academy, they are on an eight-game losing streak (dating back to last season) that has dropped them down to 0-2.

The teams didn't have to wait long for a rematch: Snook Christian Academy beat Escambia Academy by a score of 18-0 on Tuesday.
