Softball Recap: Mt. Carmel Finds Home Field Redemption Against Valley Center

There's no place like home for Mt. Carmel, who bounced back after a loss on the road last Tuesday. They came out on top against the Valley Center Jaguars by a score of 6-3 on Friday. The Sundevils haven't had any issues with the Jaguars recently, as the game was their fifth consecutive victory against them.

Chloe Millard was a major factor no matter where she played. She looked comfortable on the mound, pitching 5.1 innings while giving up just one earned (and one unearned) run off four hits. She has been consistent : she hasn't given up more than one earned run any time she's pitched this season. She was also solid in the batter's box, going 2-for-4 with two RBI.

In other batting news, the team relied heavily on Kaili Martha, who scored a run while going 2-for-4. Madie Codner was another key player, scoring a run while going 2-for-4.

Mt. Carmel kept the outfield on their toes and finished the game with 12 hits. That's the most hits they've posted since back in May of 2024.

Mt. Carmel's record now sits at 4-6. As for Valley Center, their loss was their third straight on the road, which dropped their record down to 3-9.

Looking ahead, Mt. Carmel will be taking part in a tournament against Valhalla at 4:00 p.m. on Monday. Mt. Carmel is facing Valhalla at the right time seeing as Valhalla is stuck on a seven-game losing streak. As for Valley Center, they will venture away from home to face off against Francis Parker at 4:30 p.m. on Monday.
