Iola comes up short despite Cortland Carson's strong performance

Recap: Iola Mustangs vs. Santa Fe Trail Chargers

The Iola Mustangs pushed their score all the way to 61 on Tuesday, but even that wasn't enough to win. They fell just short of Santa Fe Trail by a score of 63-61. Iola has struggled against the Chargers recently, as their match on Tuesday was their third consecutive lost matchup.

Despite the loss, Iola still got an impressive performance from Cortland Carson, who scored 22 points along with two steals. Carson hasn't dropped below 17 points for four straight games. Another player making a difference was Landon Weide, who scored ten points along with two steals.

Iola's defeat dropped their record down to 8-6. As for Santa Fe Trail, their victory bumped their record up to 8-5.

Both teams will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Iola will face off against the Blue Comets at 7:30 p.m. on Friday. Chanute presents a significant challenge as they come into the match much higher ranked than the Mustangs in Kansas (the Blue Comets are ranked 47th, while the Mustangs are ranked 169th). As for Santa Fe Trail, they will head out on the road to take on the Buffalos at 4:30 p.m. on Friday. Prairie View is coming into the match on a three-game losing streak.
