Baseball Recap: Minnesota Valley Lutheran Continues Home Dominance on Tuesday

After having lost a blowout in their previous game against Maple River, Minnesota Valley Lutheran was happy to have turned things around on Tuesday. Their pitcher stepped up to hand the St. Clair Cyclones a 9-0 shutout. That looming 9-0 mark stands out as the most commanding margin for the Chargers yet this season.

Not much got past Kaden Peterson, who gave up just a hit and racked up 13 Ks to keep St. Clair off the board.

At the plate, Brennan Bendix was incredible, scoring two runs and stealing a base while getting on base in three of his four plate appearances. Another player making a difference was Joshua Vander Plas, who scored a run while going 2-for-4.

Minnesota Valley Lutheran's win was their sixth straight at home dating back to last season, which pushed their record up to 3-2. Those home victories came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 1.7 runs on average over those games. As for St. Clair, they are on a six-game losing streak (dating back to last season) that has dropped them down to 0-3.

Coming up, Minnesota Valley Lutheran will venture away from home to face off against Granada-Huntley-East Chain/Martin Luther/Truman at 6:00 p.m. on Monday. As for St. Clair, they will host Mountain Lake/Comfrey at 4:30 p.m. on Thursday. St. Clair is facing Mountain Lake/Comfrey at the right time seeing as Mountain Lake/Comfrey is stuck on a three-game losing streak.
