Abbey Kiser made a big impact no matter where she played. She struck out six batters over five innings while giving up just one earned (and two unearned) runs off five hits. She has been consistent recently: she hasn't given up more than one earned run in three consecutive appearances. She was also big at the plate, going a perfect 3-for-3 with three RBI and one double.
In other batting news, Mia Rosales was incredible, going a perfect 2-for-2 with one home run, three RBI, and one double. Madelyn Stief was another key player, getting on base in two of her four plate appearances with two runs and one stolen base.
Black River always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .552. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Brookside only posted an OBP of .360.
Black River pushed their record up to 9-5 with the victory, which was their fourth straight at home. The home wins came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 3.0 runs on average over those games. As for Oberlin, their loss dropped their record down to 1-5.
Wednesday's contest might come down to which pitcher can control the ball better. Oberlin has hit smart this season, having averaged an OBP of .527. However, it's not like Black River struggles in that department as they've averaged .439. With both teams so capable at the plate, fans should be ready for an impressive hitting performance.
