Basketball Recap: St. John's Christian Academy Gets the Win

Calhoun Academy came into Monday's matchup looking for another win against St. John's Christian Academy, but Kylie Finley wouldn't allow it. St. John's Christian Academy came out on top in a nail-biter against Calhoun Academy on Monday, sneaking past 43-41 thanks to Finley, who posted 24 points and eight boards. That makes it 12 consecutive games in which she has scored at least a third of St. John's Christian Academy's points.

The team also got some help courtesy of Reagan Ashby, who scored four points. She is also on a roll when it comes to steals, as she's now grabbed two or more in each of the last four games she's played.

Calhoun Academy lost despite a true team effort on offense. The best among them was Layla Walker, who earned 12 points and five steals. Calhoun Academy is 2-1 when Walker posts five or more steals, but 6-15 otherwise. Another player making a difference was Natalie Quattlebaum, who put up ten points and six rebounds.

St. John's Christian Academy's win bumped their record up to 8-10. As for Calhoun Academy, they are on a six-game losing streak that has dropped them down to 8-16.

St. John's Christian Academy has already played their next game, a 45-43 victory against Dorchester Academy on the 5th. As for Calhoun Academy, they also wasted no time getting back out on the court and have already played their next contest, a 41-38 win against Clarendon Hall on the 4th.
