League recap: Heritage extends winning streak with victory over Nottoway

3A Conference 30 recap November 13, 2013

Heritage added to the longest winning streak in 3A Conference 30 this week by beating Nottoway, 56-8. The win marks 10th in a row for the the Pioneers.

Brookville made the biggest leap in the national rankings this week, rising to 4,578 from 4,915. The advance stemmed from a 43-34 victory over Amherst County last week.

Tunstall's offense was unstoppable this week, as it produced the league's top passer, rusher and receiver. Chris Buckner threw for 75 yards and Dustin Kuczinski had 71 yards receiving. On the ground Chase Scarce chipped in 185 yards.

Scarce was a passing and rushing force as the Trojans bested Halifax County. Scarce's favorite target this week was Kuczinski, who caught 3 passes for 71 yards.

Scarce was the most successful running back in the league this week. He ran for 185 yards on 22 carries as Tunstall beat the Comets. Peyton Farrior also contributed to the rushing game with 116 yards on the ground.

Tunstall's offense cannot be tamed this season and the Trojans feature the season leaders in passing, rushing and receiving yards. Buckner has thrown for 1,094 yards and 7 touchdowns this season, while Kuczinski has 19 catches for 314 yards.

Two of the top units in the league will face off this week when Buddy Brown's team takes on Heritage. The Trojans' offense has scored 289 points this season, good for No. 1 in the league, while the Pioneers have allowed only 187 on the year.

A big matchup in 3A Conference 30 this week will be when Tunstall takes on Heritage. The Trojans are in fourth place, while the Pioneers are in first place.

The top two defenses in the league will face off this season when Tunstall takes on Heritage. The Trojans have allowed 221 points this season, while the Pioneers have given up 187. Tunstall allowed 10 points last week as it topped Halifax County.

Heritage led the league in scoring this week by notching 56 points on the Cougars.
