Softball Recap: Make It Three in a Row for Miller Place

Miller Place owes their pitching crew a big pat on the back after their performance on Saturday. They came out on top in a nail-biter against the East Islip Redmen, sneaking past 1-0. The win was familiar territory for the Panthers, who have now won three matchups in a row.

The result came thanks to Ava Zicchinelli's shutout, as she gave up just six hits and racked up ten Ks. She has been nothing but reliable on the mound: she hasn't given up more than two walks any time she's pitched this season.

On the hitting side, Emily Lopez was excellent, going 2-for-4 with one home run and one double. Brooke Callaghan also deserves some recognition as she snagged her first stolen base of the season.

Miller Place pushed their record up to 16-2 with the victory, which was their fourth straight on the road. Those road wins came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 1.5 runs on average over those games. As for East Islip, their defeat ended a three-game streak of wins at home and dropped them to 7-3.

As of now, neither Miller Place nor the Redmen have any future games scheduled.
