Basketball Recap: Cornerstone Academy Takes a Loss

Cornerstone Academy was not able to break out of their rough patch on Thursday as the team picked up their third straight loss. They took a blow against the Meadowbrook Academy Mustangs , falling 57-22. The contest marked the Cougars' lowest-scoring matchup so far this season.

Meadowbrook Academy's success was the result of a balanced attack that saw several players step up, but Julian Luzarraga led the charge by going 7 of 8 en route to 15 points and three steals. The dominant performance also gave Luzarraga a new career-high in boards (four). Another player making a difference was Luke Charske, who went 5 of 10 on his way to 13 points in addition to five boards and four steals.

Cornerstone Academy's defeat dropped their record down to 3-6. As for Meadowbrook Academy, they are on a roll lately: they've won five of their last six games, which provided a nice bump to their 8-2 record this season.

Cornerstone Academy will get a bit of extra time to process the loss as their next game is a ways off. They'll take on Redeemer Christian at 6:00 p.m. on January 3, 2025.
