Softball Recap: Marshfield Tigers vs. Wausau West Warriors

The home team had come away the winner the last six times Marshfield and Wausau West had met, but sadly for the fans who attended this one that wasn't the case. The Tigers fell just short of the Warriors by a score of 12-11 on Thursday. Tigers fans who chose to attend the game sure picked the wrong one: it was the first time the team's lost against the Warriors since on Thursday.

Madison Kraus and Lillian Griesbach stepped up to the plate in a big way. Kraus went 2-for-4 with one home run and four RBI, while Griesbach went 3-for-5 with four RBI, two runs, and one double. Delaney Varsho was another key player, getting on base in four of her five plate appearances with two runs and one double.

Marshfield's record is now 7-4. As for Wausau West, their victory bumped their record up to 2-4.

Both teams will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Marshfield will square off against Mosinee at 5:00 p.m. on Monday. The Indians' pitching crew has only allowed 3.7 runs per game this season, so the Tigers' hitters will have their work cut out for them. As for Wausau West, they will head out on the road to challenge Stevens Point at 4:30 p.m. on Tuesday.
