Baseball Recap: Greendale Takes a Loss

Greendale extended their losing streak to three on Thursday, dropping their season record down to 3-4 in the process. They were a single run away from ending the streak, but they lost a 3-2 heartbreaker at the hands of the Franklin Sabers. The Panthers were given a dose of their own medicine in this game as the Sabers apparently hadn't forgotten their loss the last time these teams played back in April of 2024.

As for Franklin, the victory (which was their seventh in a row) raised their record to 7-1. The wins came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 11.6 runs over those games.

For Franklin's part, Cameron Lund looked comfortable as he pitched 2.2 innings while giving up no earned runs or hits. Lund has been nothing but reliable on the mound: he hasn't given up a single earned run in four consecutive appearances.

On the hitting side, Tavin Nass was excellent, going 2-for-3 with one run, one double, and one RBI. That run was his first of the season.

Looking ahead, Greendale is taking a road trip to square off against Shorewood at 4:45 p.m. on Friday. The Panthers' pitchers better be ready for this one: the Greyhounds have averaged an impressive 12 runs per game this season. As for Franklin, they will be playing in front of their home fans against Muskego at 5:00 p.m. on Friday. The Warriors' pitching crew has only allowed 3.1 runs per game this season, so the Sabers' hitters will have their work cut out for them.
