Basketball Recap: Cedar Hill Comes Up Short

Cedar Hill played a tough match on Friday in which they were outscored in every quarter. They were dealt a 99-71 loss at the hands of the Duncanville Panthers and Pantherettes. While losing is never fun, the Longhorns can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Texas basketball rankings (they are ranked 168th, while the Panthers and Pantherettes are ranked 11th).

It was another big night for Kayden Edwards, who went 10-for-16 on his way to 30 points for Duncanville. Edwards' evening made it five games in a row in which he has scored at least 21 points. Beckham Black was another key player, almost dropping a double-double with 12 points and nine assists.

Cedar Hill has been struggling recently as they've lost three of their last four contests, which has put a noticeable dent in their 18-15 record this season. Those losses can't be blamed on the team's offensive performance across that stretch, as they averaged 74.5 points over those games. As for Duncanville, their victory was their 13th straight on the road dating back to last season, which pushed their record up to 19-7.

Cedar Hill didn't take long to hit the court again: they've already played their next game, a 66-60 defeat against Skyline on the 11th. As for Duncanville, they also wasted no time getting back out on the court and have already played their next match, a 66-64 win against Waxahachie on the 11th.
