Baseball Game Preview: Gulliver Prep Raiders vs. St. Brendan Sabres

The Gulliver Prep Raiders will square off against the St. Brendan Sabres at 6:00 p.m. on Tuesday. Gulliver Prep will aim to continue their three-game streak of scoring more runs each game than the last.

Gulliver Prep is on a roll after a high-stakes playoff matchup on Monday. Everything went their way against Somerset Academy (Silver Palms) as they made off with a 14-1 victory. The Raiders' hitters stepped up their game for this one, as that was the most runs they've scored all season.

Ronin Robles looked comfortable as he tossed three innings while giving up just one earned run off two hits. He has been nothing but reliable on the mound: he hasn't given up more than two hits in three consecutive appearances.

At the plate, the team relied heavily on Jacob Lombard, who got on base in three of his four plate appearances with one home run, three runs, and three RBI. Those three RBI gave him a new career-high. Justin Parson was another key player, scoring two runs while going 2-for-3.

Gulliver Prep always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .625. That's the best OBP they've posted all season.

Meanwhile, there's no place like home for St. Brendan, who bounced back after a loss on the road on Wednesday. Their pitchers stepped up to hand American a 15-0 shutout on Thursday. The high-scoring effort was just what the Sabres needed considering they were shut out in their previous match.

Brandon Roca was incredible, going a perfect 3-for-3 with four RBI, two runs, and one double. Allen Nunez also deserves some recognition as he hit his first triple of the season.

St. Brendan pushed their record up to 13-11 with the win, which was their third straight at home. The home victories came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 0.7 runs on average over those games. As for Gulliver Prep, their record is now 6-20.
