Baseball Recap: Progreso Takes a Loss

Friday just wasn't the day for Progreso's offense. They came up short against the Raymondville Bearkats on Friday, falling 10-0. The matchup marked the first time this season in which the Red Ants were not able to get on the board.

Progreso saw two different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was David Hernandez, who went 1-for-2 with one triple. That triple was Hernandez's first of the season.

Progreso has been struggling recently as they've lost three of their last four contests. That's put a noticeable dent in their 12-6 record this season. As for Raymondville, the win (which was their third in a row) raised their record to 14-8.

Both squads will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Progreso will head out to face off against Lyford at 11:00 a.m. on Saturday. The Bulldogs' pitching crew has only allowed 3.5 runs per game this season, so the Red Ants' hitters will have their work cut out for them. As for Raymondville, they will head out on the road to challenge Sinton at 1:00 p.m. on Saturday. The Pirates will roll in looking for their 14th straight victory, something the Bearkats surely won't give up without a fight.
