Volleyball Recap: Western Reserve Takes a Loss

Western Reserve suffered their biggest defeat since August 28th on Thursday. They lost 3-0 to the St. Paul Flyers. The loss continues a trend for the Roughriders in their meetings with the Flyers: they've now lost six in a row.

Western Reserve took the loss but they managed to make steady progress, increasing their score in every set they played. The match finished with set scores of 25-17, 25-19, 25-23.

Emma Hammond paced Western Reserve's offense, picking up eight kills. Hammond got some help from Jamie Muenz and her 16 assists. Finally, Muenz was also a dominant defender, finishing with a team-high two blocks.

Western Reserve's defeat dropped their record down to 9-6. As for St. Paul, they pushed their record up to 7-2 with the victory, which was their third straight at home.

Western Reserve wasted no time getting back out on the court and has already played their next contest, a 3-0 win against South Central on the 23rd. As for St. Paul, they also didn't take long to hit the court again: they've already played their next matchup, a 3-2 loss against Mohawk on the 22nd.
