Basketball Recap: Alpaugh Falls Despite Big Games from Gady Meza and Josh Banuelos Jr.

Alpaugh was not able to break out of their rough patch on Tuesday as the team picked up their 15th straight loss dating back to last season. They fell 47-40 to the Legacy Christian Academy Lions. The Buffalos were given a dose of their own medicine in this game as the Lions apparently hadn't forgotten their defeat the last time these teams played back in January of 2024.

Josh Banuelos Jr. and Gady Meza certainly did their best on Tuesday to avoid the loss. Banuelos Jr. posted 13 points and six rebounds, while Meza put up 18 points and six boards. Another player making a difference was Sebastian Vasquez, who earned three points and five boards.

Alpaugh's record now sits at 0-14. As for Legacy Christian Academy, with the win, they broke their 18-game losing streak and moved their record to 1-9.

Alpaugh didn't take long to hit the court again: they've already played their next contest, a 57-29 loss against Farmersville on the 22nd. As for Legacy Christian Academy, they will welcome Wonderful College Prep Academy at 6:00 p.m. on Friday. The timing isn't great for Legacy Christian Academy: they have been struggling with ten straight losses at home dating back to last season, while Wonderful College Prep Academy has snatched up three consecutive wins on the road.
