Baseball Recap: Hendersonville Takes a Loss

Hendersonville fought the good fight in their extra-innings game against Goodpasture Christian on Thursday but wound up with a less-than-desirable result. They fell just short of the Cougars by a score of 4-2. For those keeping track at home, that's the closest defeat the Commandos have suffered since April 22, 2024.

Carson Anderson was a force to be reckoned with on the mound despite the final result: he didn't allow a single earned run and allowed only two hits while striking out six over 5.1 innings pitched. He has been consistent recently: he hasn't given up more than two hits in four consecutive appearances.

At the plate, Hendersonville saw five different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Tyler McDonald, who got on base in all three of his plate appearances with one double. That double marked the first that McDonald has hit this season.

This is the second loss in a row for Hendersonville and nudges their season record down to 18-9. As for Goodpasture Christian, they have been performing incredibly well recently as they've won nine of their last ten contests. That's provided a nice bump to their 17-8 record this season.

Both teams are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Hendersonville will host Watertown at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. As for Goodpasture Christian, they will be playing at home against White House at 2:00 p.m. on Friday.
