The Scotland Fighting Scots will be taking part in a tournament against the Lumberton Pirates at 4:00 p.m. on Monday. Scotland will be looking to extend their current 18-game winning streak.
Scotland is headed in fresh off scoring the most runs they have all season. They blew past Red Springs 23-0 on Saturday. The Fighting Scots' pitching crew has been rock solid lately; the team hasn't given up a run in their last three games.
Scotland got a massive performance out of Dawson Blue, who got on base in all five of her plate appearances with one home run, four runs, and two stolen bases. What's more, Blue posted five RBI, the most she's had since back in May of 2024. The team also got some help courtesy of Addison Johnson, who went 4-for-5 with six RBI, two stolen bases, and three runs.
Meanwhile, there's no place like home for Lumberton, who bounced back after a loss on the road on Tuesday. They had just enough and edged out St. Pauls 10-9 on Saturday. The high-flying hitting performance was a huge turnaround for the Pirates considering their two-run performance the contest before.
Jaelyn Hammond was a standout: she went 2-for-4 with four RBI, one triple, and one run. Another player making a difference was Leea Wilkins, who went 3-for-4 with three runs and one triple.
Lumberton was getting hits left and right and finished the game having posted a batting average of .433. They are a perfect 5-0 when they post a batting average of .375 or better.
Scotland pushed their record up to 19-1 with the win, which was their ninth straight on the road. Those road victories came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 0.1 runs on average over those games. As for Lumberton, their record now sits at 10-12.
Monday's match will be a test for both teams' pitchers. Scotland hasn't had any issues making contact this season, having earned a batting average of .353. However, it's not like Lumberton struggles in that department as they've averaged .316. With both teams so capable at the plate, fans should be ready for an impressive hitting performance.
Scotland beat Lumberton 7-2 in their previous matchup back in February of 2024. Do the Fighting Scots have another victory up their sleeve, or will the Pirates turn the tables on them? We'll have the answer soon enough.
