Soccer Game Preview: Santa Rita vs. Arete Prep

The Santa Rita Eagles are taking a road trip to challenge the Arete Prep CHARGERS at 7:00 p.m. on Tuesday. Santa Rita's offense has struggled lately (the team hasn't scored more than a single goal for three straight games), a trend the team is no doubt ready to end.

Friday just wasn't the day for Santa Rita's offense. They lost 7-0 to Morenci on Friday.

Meanwhile, Arete Prep came tearing into Thursday's match with six straight wins (a stretch where they outscored their opponents by an average of 2.5 goals), and they left with even more momentum. They came within a single goal of losing the streak, but they secured a 2-1 W against the Eagles. Arete Prep found success even though the refs didn't miss a thing: three Arete Prep players were handed yellow cards.

Ben Fornoff was the driving force of Arete Prep's attack as he scored both of Arete Prep's goals, bringing his season total up to eight goals.

Santa Rita's defeat dropped their record down to 0-5. As for Arete Prep, their record now sits at 10-5.

Santa Rita suffered a grim 10-0 defeat to Arete Prep in their previous meeting back in December of 2023. Can the Eagles avenge their loss or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
