Basketball Recap: Harrison Falls Despite Big Games from Mitchell Mercurio and Tucker Ward

Harrison lost against Loveland back in January of 2024 and unfortunately they wound up with the same result on Tuesday. The Harrison Wildcats took a 55-38 bruising from the Loveland Tigers. While losing is never fun, the Wildcats can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Ohio basketball rankings (they are ranked 560th, while the Tigers are ranked 179th).

Despite the defeat, Harrison had strong showings from Tucker Ward, who posted 15 points and five rebounds, and Mitchell Mercurio, who went 5 of 9 on his way to 14 points. That was a full 39.5% of Harrison's points, marking the third time in a row he's scored more than a third of the team's points.

This is the second loss in a row for Harrison and nudges their season record down to 6-13. As for Loveland, they pushed their record up to 11-6 with the win, which was their third straight on the road.

Harrison will venture away from home to face off against Western Brown at 2:00 p.m. on Saturday. Loveland has already played their next match, a 57-54 victory against Anderson on the 5th.
